Meet Shirley
Shirley Luckadoo retired from a community college vice presidency to begin a new career in ministry. For the past seventeen years, she has had the joy of serving as the ministry director of Celebrate Recovery at Trading Ford Baptist Church in Salisbury, North Carolina. The co-founder and board chair of Capstone Recovery Center, a faith-based ministry for women struggling with substance abuse, she has rejoiced in seeing God transform women’s shattered lives into new creations. Shirley is also the executive director of Hope House of Rowan, a transitional home for women who have completed a recovery treatment program and are ready to begin working or returning to school.
Shirley is the author of Beyond Coincidence: God Moments Amid Life’s Challenges and the general editor of True Stories of People in Recovery: Finding Healing from Life’s Hurts, Addictions, and Compulsive Behaviors. A former pastor, teacher, and speaker, her passion is helping people find new, meaningful lives after years of hurt, addiction, or compulsive behaviors.
Shirley’s latest calling is to launch King’s Haven Ministries, Inc., which will provide transitional homes for men who are recovering from substance abuse. (The profits from her books will go to support that new ministry.)
Shirley enjoys spending time and traveling with her three wonderful sons, their precious wives, and her awesome grandchildren and great-grandchild.
She earned her EdD degree from North Carolina State University and her MDiv from Gardner-Webb University.
